Akademi Ödülleri, bilinen adıyla Oscar, dünyada en bilinen film ödüllerinden birisi... Sinema Sanatları ve Bilimleri Akademisi (Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences) tarafından 1929'da Los Angeles'da verilmeye başlandı. Törenler yılda bir kez ve çoğunlukla Şubat ayında yapılıyor. Oscar törenleri tabii tüm dünyada heyecanla bekleniyor ama, Kaliforniya'da ve Los Angeles'de anlam ve önemi bir başka... Akademi ödülleri, Sinema Sanatları ve Bilimleri Akademisi (AMPAŞ) tarafından verilir. 2007'den itibaren oy verecek 5830 üyeye sahiptir. 1311 üye sayısı ile oyuncular bu üyelerin yaklaşık %22'lik bir kısmını oluştururlar.

79. Akademi Ödülleri seremonisi , 25 Şubat 2007'de Hollywood Kodak Tiyatrosu'nda yapıldı. Sunuculuğunu Amerika'lı ünlü talk-show sunucusu Ellen DeGeneres yaptı. 80. Akademi Ödülleri seremonisi , 24 Şubat 2008 olarak belirlendi.

The Academy Awards, popularly known as the Oscars, are awards of merit presented annually by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) to recognize excellence of professionals in the film industry, including directors, actors, and writers. The formal ceremony at which the awards are presented is among the oldest, most prominent, most prestigious, and most watched film award ceremonies in the world.

The 1st Academy Awards ceremony was held on Thursday, May 16, 1929, at the Hotel Roosevelt in Hollywood to honor outstanding film achievements of 1927 and 1928. It was hosted by actor Douglas Fairbanks and director William C. DeMille. The 80th Academy Awards ceremonies, hosted by Comedy Central's The Daily Show host, Jon Stewart, were held on Sunday, February 24, 2008, at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California.

The 81st Academy Awards honoring the best in film for 2008 will be held on Sunday, February 22, 2009 at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood.

La Storia di Leo: The Story of Leo

The story of Leo is the adventurous, romantic, tender and amusing story. Leo, being a young vegetarian lion, is an outcast, rejected by his fellow lions because he is different. However, one day, quite despite himself, he comes to the rescue of Avoria, the beautiful queen of a herd of elephants as she gives birth to two little ones with intwined tails. Avoria is the "widow" of elephant ELE, who has been mysteriously murdered. Avoria is being courted by Zanco, a magnificent and domineering white elephant who in fact only wants to marry Avoria to become king of the herd.

A series of exciting misadventures that follow the birth separate the mother and her young ones. Leo, suddenly forced into the role of "father", must cross the savannah in search of the legendary Milk Lake in order to feed the famished baby elephants. The group is joined by Cobo, Leo’s best friend. Cobo, though an old antelope, is very young at heart, with lots of stories and lots of grand children. The aging antelope is witty, fun, has no inhibitions, and is the only one that knows the "difference" secret. Along the way, many other wonderful friends join the group, such as Little Leopard, Little Zebra and Little Monkey, as they all accompany our heroes on their journey.

Whether the magic spot actually exists, in fact, is not at all certain, and Leo needs to seek the wise counsel of Camea, the great actress of the jungle stage. Camea has the marvellous gift – precisely – of being able to change like a chameleon. There is also Hugo, the turtle who is as quick to speak as he is slow to move.

After an epic struggle with hyenas and vultures that attack the group, Leo must challenge the cruel and terrible Zanco. The elephant wants to find Avoria’s little ones and force her to marry him. Yet, just as in all of our most beloved fairy tales, a happy ending is sure to come. Leo, Avoria, and the baby elephants will live happily ever after. In fact, even happier than in fairy tales, since the two baby elephants, once their tails have been unravelled, dissolve into the tender eyes of two adorable lion cubs...

Ensemble, c'est tout est un film français, adapté du roman d'Anna Gavalda, réalisé par Claude Berri, sorti en 2007.

Synopsis

La rencontre de quatre destins croisés qui vont finir par s'apprivoiser, se connaître, s'aimer, vivre sous le même toit. Camille fait des ménages le soir dans les bureaux et dessine avec grâce à ses heures perdues. Philibert est un jeune aristocrate féru d'histoire, timide, émotif et solitaire, il occupe un grand appartement que possède sa famille. Franck est cuisinier, viril et tendre, il aime infiniment sa grand-mère, Paulette, une vieille dame fragile et drôle. Leurs doutes, leurs chagrins, c'est ensemble qu'ils vont apprendre à les adoucir, pour avancer, réaliser leurs rêves. Ils vont se découvrir et comprendre qu'ensemble, on est plus fort.

El bosque animado es una película de cine española dirigida en 1987 por José Luis Cuerda.

Argumento 

En el fantástico mundo del bosque animado se conoce a gente que se ha transportado a ese sitio por una fuerza mágica. Un bandido, un pocero, una niña que trabaja, un chico que no quiere trabajar, una muchacha que emigra, un fantasma que busca compañía... Estos, y muchísimos personajes más, constituyen el diverso panorama que vamos descubriendo entre los árboles de "El bosque animado". Sus pequeñas historias componen un tejido al mismo tiempo humano y vegetal, se cruzan, se entrelazan, y es difícil Ilegar hasta sus raíces, saber cuando empiezan y dónde terminarán.

Swing Vote

Swing Vote is a 2008 dramedy film about an entire U.S. presidential election determined by the vote of one man. It was directed by Joshua Michael Stern and starred Kevin Costner, Paula Patton, Kelsey Grammer, Dennis Hopper, Nathan Lane, Stanley Tucci, George Lopez and introducing Madeline Carroll. The film was released on August 1, 2008.[1]

Swing vote is a term used to describe a vote that may go to any of a number of candidates in an election, or, in a two-party system, may go to either of the two dominant political parties. Such votes are usually sought after in elections, since they can play a big role in determining the outcome.

A swing voter or floating voter is a voter who may not be affiliated with a particular political party (Independent) or who will vote across party lines. In American politics, many centrists, liberal Republicans and conservative Democrats are considered "swing voters" since their voting patterns cannot be predicted with certainty.

While the swing voter is ostensibly the target of most political activity during elections, in countries without compulsory voting the political parties know that the shift from one party to another is dependent only to a limited extent on swing voters. Another, arguably larger factor is the success of one party in comparison to another in getting out its core support. In a two-party system, those who become disillusioned with their favored party are more likely to vote third-party or abstain than cross over.

However, in the 24 countries with compulsory voting, voter turnout is often already very close to 100%, so if the major parties are roughly balanced in popularity, swing voters can have a marked influence on the outcome.

Plot

Swing Vote deals with the story of an election set somewhere in the near future where Bud Johnson (Kevin Costner), a lovable loser who is coasting through life and hasn't a single political thought in his head, is thrust into an improbable dilemma. In response, he is coaxed by his 12-year-old daughter Molly (Madeline Carroll) to take more of a serious approach to life. Molly runs the household and sees an opportunity on election day to energize her father. The election is a "dead heat" with the sole deciding ballot in the hands of a mystified Bud, who is being wooed by candidates from both sides, the incumbent Republican Andrew Carington Boone (Kelsey Grammer) and the opposing Democrat, Donald Greenleaf (Dennis Hopper).

Bud's actual opinions (or lack thereof) are misinterpreted by the media, causing the candidates to flip-flop on several positions (The Democrats take a pro-life and anti-immigration stand, while the Republicans take a pro-environmental and pro gay marriage stand). In the end, Bud chooses to hold a final debate the day before he is set to recast his ballot. In a written speech, he confesses that he knows little to nothing about politics, or for that matter, life, and decides to ask questions from people in the mail. The movie ends with Bud casting his vote, though it is never revealed who he voted for.
